Volunteer Opportunities

50/50 Ticket Sales

Selling 50/50 raffle tickets throughout the Ribfest site.
Training and support will be provided by the 50/50 Ticket Sales Manager. Must be 19+ to sell raffle tickets.

Lots of interaction with attendees. Can be just sitting if required or also walking site.

Green Team

Volunteers report being part of the Green Team is one of the best jobs on site!!

Ribfest is proud to commit to making our event “Green” by providing recyclable and compostable food and drink items. We use smaller table bins rather than garbage cans for easier removal and sorting.

Main duty is bringing table trays over to sorting stations while enjoying the event. Lots of walking and interaction with attendees.

KidZone

One of the busiest and happiest places on site! Kidzone volunteers will interact with the children, playing games, face painting (training provided), assist with games, crafts and line management. The requirements are 13-16 with Supervision and 19+ will require Police Information Check. We provide non-profit ID so no cost to get done.

Mix of walking and sitting with lots of interaction with younger attendees.

Guest Services

Guest Greeters greet guests at the entrance to the Ribfest and ID Checkers check ID for alcohol consumption. Provide wristbands for guests purchasing adult beverages. Must be 19+ years of age.

No walking required for this position but lots of interaction with attendees.

Ribfest Tavern

Adult Beverage service included Beverage Pourers and Beverage Servers. Lots of interaction with attendees. Beverage Servers are required to provide a copy of their Serve It Right (SIR) certificate. Serving It Right Course | Responsible Service BC (gov.bc.ca)

Must be 19+ to work in this area. Lots of interaction with attendees and standing.

Ribfest Cookhouse

Food Service includes Food Preparation and Food Service. Duties include preparing food (hot dogs only), serving food and non-alcoholic beverages to customers.

The minimum age requirement is 15 years old. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment with lots of interaction with attendees.

Photographer/Videographer

Help us capture the fun of Langley Ribfest with film and video. Students can earn volunteer hours and great experience with the guidance of media professionals from Honey Mustard Media.

Cashiers

Cashiers duties include selling tickets for liquor, non-alcoholic beverage, and food. Training on machines is provided.

No walking required for this position but lots of interaction with attendees.

Parking

One of the most important volunteer positions. As this is generally outside the event area, we provide tent, chairs and often additional perks. Safely guide visitors in and out of lots, monitor space levels, answer questions to alternative parking.

Training is provided and many signs will assist in these efforts. Can involve a lot of sitting at different times but also walking.

Volunteer Tent

Assist volunteers with checking in and out of their volunteer shifts. Provide volunteers with directions, instructions, volunteer t-shirts, and water.

No major walking involved. Can be lots of sitting. Training provided by volunteer coordinator.

Entertainment

Generally, you are a Stage Assistant working with the bands and equipment. Assist Stage Managers with the stage set up, stage change, and entertainer support. Requires some physical activity.

Ribfest Set-up and Take-down

Commencing Thursday, volunteers will assist with setting up small tents, tables, chairs, and signage. Monday volunteers will assist with the event takedown of tents, chairs, tables, and signage.

Volunteers must be physically capable of repetition.
